Rueben Gurr has been performing as a musician since the late sixties. He currently keeps several bands active including jazz and rhythm and blues ensembles. He has been an instructor at Capilano College in the Bachelor of Music Therapy since the mid seventies instructing in guitar and large ensemble, improvisation, arranging, and composition. In recent years he has created and taught curriculum for the College in several areas: Music Synthesis Technology; music created with computers and synthesizers, private music instruction curriculum and composition and arranging curriculum. At his recording studio, Lucky Dog Studios in Deep Cove, Rueben produces CDs, corporate sound tracks, and teaches production and composition and developing talent. He also teaches music to children with special needs. He currently has three publications in print, "Music, Therapy and the Guitar" and "A Manual for the Singing Songwriter" and "Forms, Styles and Idioms- Tools for Arranging, Improvising and Composing." |
